Snow falls softly as a tree is torn from the ground in a seemingly effortless motion by an alien harvester. Deep in the woods – lit only by the harvester’s gleam behind a screen of silhouetted tree trunks – the snow comes down like a veil and almost conceals the machine as it noses toward the next trunk, then lifts, turns, draws it through, and drops the delimbed lengths.
